January 2007

January 15, 2007 - Happy New Year, everyone! I realize there have only been 2 weeks of 2007, but I know I'm not the only one who's still writing 2006 on her papers =D And with the new year comes a new layout featuring Natalie Portman from Vogue (Australia). I hope you like it! Though, i can't take full credit for the design. I was inspired by Miss Portman.com.

Anyway, life's been busy, but quite good, all things considered. Classes have started, and I think this quarter shouldn't be too burdensome. Half of getting through is having to remain positive, and trusting that things will work out. I tend to worry, but I'm learning to let things go out to sea. If certain things happen, then they happen, and what will be, will be. I can't help but think that I'm creating my future, and I can fashion it in any way I like, and that includes how I choose to handle the blows and let-downs and negativity in general.

So, I've started to bake and learn how to cook a few more dishes, and I made my very first pie for the first time on Sunday!! I was so proud of it, even though the crust wasn't spectacular, and I should have used green apples instead of gala ones. But now I know how I can improve, and make it better. Once I master that, I think I'll move onto others. I've always found baking/cooking to be very theraputic and I think my dad instilled that love in me. Not only is there a creative element to it (tasting, deciding what looks aesthetically pleasing, decorating, etc.) but you're also following precise instructions and creating. That part I love.

In addition, I'm wanting to expand my knitting skills. With a couple of books, I should be great. But what I really want to do is scrapbook. Photo albums are wonderful things, but sometimes adding side-notes and stickers and captions and decorations makes them that much better.
